Baked Meaty Macaroni
My sweet husband loves Italian dishes. Considering we first met in an Italian Restaurant! So more reasons to get my hands busy in trying out different kinds of Pasta Recipe. So I’m sharing this new recipe I put together from different recipe sites, my very own version that satisfies my Husband’s taste buds. Try it out!
Ingredients to make this happen.
1 & 1/2 lbs either ground turkey or beef
1 lb smoked sausages- sliced
28 oz either whole tomatoes or crushed
12 oz tomato paste
2 large eggs
24 oz low fat cottage cheese
1 lb sliced mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 gloves garlic -chopped
1/4 medium size onion -chopped
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp dried parsley
2 tbsp dried basil
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup water
1 lb package elbow noodles
Follow this steps!
A). Cook for 35-45 Minutes
1. Heat up 1 tbsp of olive oil in a wide pan- medium heat only all throughout the cooking.
2. Sautee all together the 1 & 1/2 lb ground meat + 1 lb smoked sliced sausages + chopped medium 1/4 onion & 2 gloves garlic.
3. Mix constantly the meat mixtures until it turns brown then add the following: 28 oz can tomatoes + 12 oz tomato paste + 1 tsp salt + 2 tbsp dried parsley + 2 tbsp basil + 1/2 cup water (constantly stirring).
B).
1. Cook the 1 lb noodles according to the instructions provided.
2. Make sure to boil the water and put 1 tsp salt + 2 tsp of oil to avoid noodles sticking together.
3. Pour in the noodles and stir constantly until a little rubbery (Noodles will cook continually in your baking time).
4. Drain the noodles.
C).
1. Beat the 2 large eggs then add 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese + 24 oz low fat cottage cheese. Mix thoroughly.
Now we are ready to bake! (Pre heat oven for 350F then Bake for 20-30 mins until it’s bubbling)
1. In a Baking dish layer the following: PASTA + COTTAGE CHEESE MIXTURE + SLICED MOZZARELLA CHEESE + MEAT SAUCE.
2. Do the same layers -twice, then sprinkle more Parmesan cheese on top, and put the rectangular cut mozzarella cheese crisscrossing on top of it all as a design.
3. No need to cover, put it inside the oven for a happy baking!
Note:
*Pasta dishes like this are better to serve freshly made. Because as days pass it’s becoming more dry, unless you have made a standby sauce.
*You can actually freeze the Baked Meaty Macaroni you assemble, in case you decided not to bake it yet or you are just prepping it ahead of time.
*The 1/2 cup of water you added, I suggest that you pour in into the Tomato paste can first, scrape what’s left in there to combine with your water for more flavor.
Thanks for checking this out. And hopefully you try it as well! Let me know what you think or if you have any questions about this. Always a happy weekend!
Genesis 1:29 – “And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which [is] upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which [is] the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.”
